For several years, NexGen Framing was building with traditional building materials – block and wood. In 2000, NexGen built its first steel frame project in Melbourne, Florida based a goal of building a stronger more energy efficient building. Our criteria was durability against the elements, invulnerability to termites, bugs and rodents, high strength-to-weight ratio, reduced waste, fire-resistance, and labor savings. This project was a great success but it still did not achieve the financial and environmental sustainability objectives we were looking for. From that point on NexGen set out to develop its own solution with improvements such as making the system trade friendly and structurally stronger. Over the years we have tested multiple materials and techniques, which has resulted in the development of our third generation X4/X4+ Wall System. After years of hard work and investment, NexGen was issued its patent in April 2017 (# 9,624,666).
